CHAPTER 23

Washington, D.C., 2006

D eena hiked her skirt up as she sashayed into Mr. Bledsoe’s office. She was interviewing for Karen’s old position and wanted to make a good impression. She did think it odd that he was doing the interviewing. Since when did a Chief Executive Officer interview for secretarial positions? Well, whatever. She was determined to get the position, whatever it took. Lord knows she needed the money. Her last boyfriend dumped her when his wife found out that he was seeing her. As a matter of fact, Deena had just barely missed getting the beat down of her life. Luckily, in the nick of time, she was able to sneak out of the garage, but later found out that she had left her wallet behind. At any rate, that stream of income had permanently been eliminated.

Deena stopped in the ladies room on the way to James’ office. She was an attractive girl, but in a slutty kind of way. She had that light-skinned, long-hair thing going, but most of the time she just looked washed out. She was a size six, but had size 40D implants, a gift from one of her boyfriends who thought that larger breasts would make him cum quicker. He had money to burn because he had just signed an $8 million NFL contract with the Washington Redskins. Well, this dude paid his frat brother, a plastic surgeon, to put these things in Deena, and she agreed. Now Deena always looked like she was bending over. They are way too big for her frame, but to let her tell it, they have increased her marketability by 100 percent.

She adjusted her tight, black Jones New York suit, so that the skirt fell right below the thigh. She had even practiced sitting down, so that she could show him the pussy, when necessary. Deena felt that underwear was overrated. She felt that wearing underwear kept all of the natural juices in, which is why so many women smelled bad. Consequently, she never wore them.

Deena also strategically opened too many buttons on her blouse, so that if she sat just so, Mr. Bledsoe would be able to get a full view of her breasts. Shit, her momma always said, “If you got it, go get it,” and Deena had it. She took out her Gucci cologne and sprayed it lightly behind her ears, the crease of her elbow, and on her breasts. Ready!

Feeling pretty good about herself, Deena sashayed over to Phyllis and informed her that she was there for the 11 a.m. interview with Mr. Bledsoe. Phyllis sucked her teeth and buzzed James.

“Your eleven o’clock is here although I’m not sure if she is here for an interview or if there is a bachelor party in your office,” said Phyllis.

“That will be all, Phyllis. Show Ms. Martin right in.”

“Mr. Bledsoe says you may come in. You may want to button your shirt first,” she replied.

Deena smiled and said “thank you” as sweetly as she could. She was used to women “hating on her.
